Botox Cardiff: What to Expect During Your First Treatment
How anti-wrinkle treatments work
Botox uses a purified protein to temporarily relax the muscles responsible for expression lines. By softening these movements, the skin gets a chance to recover and smooth out. The treatment is quick, usually taking about 15 minutes, and involves minimal discomfort.
What to expect during recovery
There is very little downtime after Botox. You might see small, bug-bite-like bumps at the injection sites, but these typically disappear within 30 minutes. You can return to your normal routine immediately, though you should avoid strenuous exercise, alcohol, and lying flat for the first 4 hours.
When do you see results?
You won't see changes immediately. The protein takes time to bind to the receptors, with initial softening showing in 3 to 5 days, and full results visible at 2 weeks. The effects generally last between 3 and 4 months, after which the muscle movement gradually returns.
