Morpheus8 vs Traditional Microneedling: What's the Real Difference?

Microneedling from around £150. Morpheus8 from £700. When two treatments look superficially similar but sit several hundred pounds apart, you deserve a straight answer about what the difference buys you. Here it is.

The shared principle

Both treatments use fine needles to create controlled micro-injuries that trigger collagen production. Traditional microneedling works in the upper dermis, typically to a depth of 1 to 2mm. It is superb for skin texture, fine lines, enlarged pores and mild acne scarring, and because it uses no heat it is safe for all skin types with minimal downtime.

What radiofrequency adds

Morpheus8 delivers radiofrequency heat through insulated needles at depths of up to 4mm, into the deep dermis and the fat layer beneath. That heat does two things microneedling cannot: it contracts existing collagen for a tightening effect, and it remodels subdermal tissue, which is why Morpheus8 can sharpen a jawline or firm the under-chin in a way needling alone never will.

Honest guidance: when to save and when to spend

  • Choose microneedling if: your concerns are surface-level, texture, glow, pores, fine lines, mild scarring. A course of three costs a fraction of one Morpheus8 session and delivers excellent results.
  • Choose Morpheus8 if: you have skin laxity, deeper acne scarring, or want contouring as well as texture. The radiofrequency is what tightens; without it you are paying for results needling cannot reach.
  • Upgrade either with exosomes: applying exosome therapy immediately after either treatment dramatically accelerates healing and amplifies results.

Frequently asked questions

Is Morpheus8 safe for darker skin tones?

Yes, because the needles are insulated and the heat is delivered below the surface, Morpheus8 carries a lower pigmentation risk than many lasers. We assess every skin type individually.

How much downtime does each need?

Microneedling: 24 to 48 hours of redness. Morpheus8: two to three days of redness with possible pinpoint marks for a few days more.

How many sessions will I need?

Both are typically delivered as a course of three, spaced four to six weeks apart.
