Regenerative Aesthetics in Cardiff: Repairing Skin, Not Just Filling It

For two decades, aesthetics largely meant one thing: where there is a line or a hollow, add filler. It worked, and it still has its place. But the most interesting shift in our field is not a new filler at all. It is a move towards treatments that improve the quality of the skin itself, prompting it to repair, rebuild and behave like younger skin. That is what regenerative aesthetics means.
Filling versus repairing
A dermal filler adds volume to a specific spot. A regenerative treatment does something different: it signals your own cells to produce more collagen, elastin and hydration across an area. You are not adding a substance to plump, you are improving the underlying tissue so the skin looks better lit, firmer and more even. The two approaches are not rivals. Used together, thoughtfully, they cover what neither does alone.
The main regenerative treatments
- Polynucleotides. Purified DNA fragments that calm inflammation and stimulate repair. Excellent for tired, thin or crepey skin, and a favourite for the under eye. See our comparison of polynucleotides versus dermal fillers.
- Exosomes. Cell signalling messengers that drive regeneration, often used after microneedling or energy devices. More on exosome therapy.
- Skin boosters. Microinjections of hyaluronic acid that hydrate from within and improve glow and bounce. More in our skin boosters guide.
- Microneedling. Controlled micro injury that triggers a natural collagen response, made stronger when paired with the above. More on microneedling.
Who regenerative treatments suit
They are ideal if your skin looks tired rather than volume depleted, if you want a result that reads as healthy skin rather than treated skin, or if you are younger and want to invest in prevention. They are also a thoughtful choice for anyone nervous about looking overdone, because the goal is your skin, better, not a different face.
How we approach it at The Enchara
Regenerative work is a course, not a single fix. We usually plan two to three sessions a few weeks apart, then maintenance. The skill is in sequencing, knowing which treatment to start with, what to combine, and when to add a small amount of structural support. At consultation we will map that out honestly, including roughly what it will cost over a year, so there are no surprises.

Frequently asked questions
What is regenerative aesthetics?
It is a group of treatments that improve the skin by prompting your own cells to repair and rebuild, rather than adding volume with filler. Examples include polynucleotides, exosomes, skin boosters and microneedling.
Are regenerative treatments better than filler?
They are different, not better. Filler restores structure and volume, regenerative treatments improve skin quality. Many people get the best result from a considered combination of both.
How many sessions will I need?
Most regenerative treatments work as a course of two to three sessions spaced a few weeks apart, followed by occasional maintenance. We will give you a clear plan at consultation.
Will I look different straight away?
Usually not dramatically. These treatments build results over weeks as your skin responds, which is exactly why they look so natural.
